Vitamin D
What is it?
It is an essential nutrient for health. It helps the body absorb calcium, one of the main substances needed for healthy bones. Along with calcium, vitamin D helps prevent osteoporosis, a disease that makes bones thinner, weaker and more prone to fractures. The muscles need this vitamin for the movement and action of the nerves to transmit messages between the brain and other organs. Vitamin D is essential for the immune system to fight bacteria and viruses that attack it.
Benefits:
- Reduces the risk of microbial infection and death.
- Vitamin D supplementation has shown favorable effects in viral infections including influenza.
- Increases expression and concentration of ACE2, MasR and Ang-1,7. and has a potential protective role against acute lung injury/acute respiratory distress syndrome.
